Help Fresh Stay Fresh.
Milco has a few tips on how you can help your fresh food stay fresh!
A few simple tips go a long way.
Shopping:
The order in which you put products in your trolley makes a difference.
- First, put in groceries (canned goods, biscuits, pasta, etc.)
- Second, put in fresh products (yoghurts, cheeses, meats, vegetables, etc.)
- Last, put in frozen or deep-frozen products (fish, ice cream, etc.)
Going Home:
Put your shopping in the back seat of the car instead of the trunk. The back seat of your car is much cooler compared to trunk temperature, which is usually very high in this part of the world.
Putting it all away:
- First, put away frozen or deep-frozen products (fish, ice cream, etc.)
- Second, put away fresh products (yoghurts, cheeses, meats, vegetables, etc.)
- Last, put away groceries (canned goods, biscuits, pasta, etc.)
Getting Organized:
Where, in the fridge or freezer, the food is stored is important to do according to food type and temperature. Also, make sure that all products are kept securely in their packaging or a cling film and/or closed container.

In the freezer
- Put everything in separate drawers
- Don’t overfill drawers
- Fill all drawers evenly so that the temperature is spread evenly
- Keep products in original packaging
- Don’t leave any product uncovered (germs will spread)
- Both fresh and cooked products are frozen with the same precautions.
Tuning Temperature:
Check the temperature settings of your fridge and freezer for maximum freshness.
